Guan Yin riding the dragon is one of the 33 different manifestations of Guan Yin. This piece, known as Guan Yin riding a dragon through the clouds, signifies the immense and miraculous powers of Guan Yin. The dragon is the King of the sea, taking water from the ocean and turning it into rain that nurtures all beings. Guan Yin standing atop the dragon means good weather is predicted and the world is in harmony.
In this sculpture, Guan Yin has one foot on the dragon and the other on the lotus, and is holding a lotus in the right hand and a Ruyi (decorative object that serves as a ceremonial scepter) in the left hand. The dragon circling the lotus leaf and clouds in the sky signifies that everything is going well and indicates peace and happiness.
